Welcome to the new school year
Welcome to our new and returning students and families for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
We hope everyone had a safe, restful and enjoyable summer. Our staff are looking very much forward to an exciting year. This past week we welcomed over 190 grade 9 students at Abbey Park as part of our Ignite! program to support the transition into the upcoming school year. The halls were ringing with the energy and enthusiasm of the next class.
Every Friday we will communicate weekly updates through School Messenger. Our school website is also an excellent source of information to stay connected, up to date and well informed. We encourage you to follow and/or bookmark this school link.
Here are some key points for the school start up:
Tuesday September 8, 2026 - First Day of Classes
All Grade 9 students will start their day at 7:45 am for morning school orientations and welcome back activities. Student Link Crew Leaders will greet Grade 9 students as they arrive at school. The morning will be filled with activities facilitated by our amazing senior students to help build relationships within the Grade 9 cohort and also ensure they know they are not just welcome, but an important part of the Abbey Park Family! Students will have their lunch from 11:00 am to 11:30 am, then will proceed with an afternoon modified class schedule as follows:
Period 1 - 11:30 am - 12:05 pm
Period 2 - 12:10 pm - 12:45 pm
Period 3 - 12:50 pm - 1:25 pm
Period 4 - 1:30 pm - 2:05 pm
Period 5 - 2:10 pm - 2:45 pm
All students in Grades 10-12 are not expected to be in the building on the morning of Wednesday September 9, 2026 until 11:30 am and will follow the schedule below:
Period 1 - 11:30 am - 12:05 pm
Period 2 - 12:10 pm - 12:45 pm
Period 3 - 12:50 pm - 1:25 pm
Period 4 - 1:30 pm - 2:05 pm
Period 5 - 2:10 pm - 2:45 pm
Thursday September 10, 2026

School Parent Council Breakfast
The New Parent Welcome Crew is planning a welcoming session for all parents with students new to Abbey Park, between 8:15 am and 9:15 am on Tuesday September 8, 2026. Please join them in the Cafeteria to meet members of the Parent Council and the Administrators. You will learn a lot about various resources for your student’s success at Abbey Park. Cookies, donuts, muffins, coffee and tea will be served.

Guidance Information
Welcome back to a new school year! The Student Services team is excited to continue working alongside our students, families, and caregivers to support a positive and successful year ahead. We appreciate the partnership, encouragement, and support you bring to our school community.
The Guidance Counsellors for the 2026-27 school year are as follows:

Timetables for the 2026–27 school year have now been shared with students. If a course is missing or you wish to request a different course, please complete the Course Change Request Form here:

Course Waitlists: Many courses are currently full. If you requested a course and it is not appearing on your timetable, you have been added to the waitlist. Guidance will contact you if a space becomes available.

Timetable Adjustments: As we continue balancing class sizes for second semester, please be aware that your timetable may change.

New Student Hangout for students gr. 10 - 12 will be in the Library Thursday September 10 after school from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. This is a great chance to meet other new students.
Lockers
Welcome Grade nines! Orientation starts at 8. Please show up early and put all your belongings in your locker. If you do not have a locker, choose one, put your bag in the locker and put your lock on it. Reminder, take a photo of your locker.
All other students will have access to a locker and will have the option to select a locker location during the first week of classes.
A google form will be sent out to students within the first week of school to record their locker numbers and lock combinations.
If you do not have a lock, you can purchase one through school cash online
Student Card ID photos will be taken during the day on September 10 & 11.

Grade 9 Information Night - Thursday, September 17
We are looking forward to having all Grade 9 parents and guardians join us for Grade 9 Information Night on Thursday, September 17 at 6:30 pm. Throughout the evening you will be able to learn more about Abbey Park High School and you will have the opportunity to visit your student’s classrooms and meet your student’s teachers. Please be sure to bring along your child’s Semester One Timetable so that you know which classrooms and teachers to visit throughout the evening.
Prayer Rooms
Any students who would like to access a room to pray during the school day are welcome to visit the main office. We have a dedicated prayer room and prayer mats to support our Abbey Park High School students.
Sports, Clubs & Activities
Many of our fall sports teams, clubs and activities are preparing to commence and all students are encouraged to participate and get involved in our school community. Daily announcements shared during the school day and also shared on our school website highlight details of meeting times and dates. We are also currently updating our list of sports teams, clubs and activities based on staff and student interest and involvement. Be sure to check out what might interest you!

Student Engagement Fee
The Student Engagement Fee, while voluntary, is an integral part of providing meaningful opportunities to every student at Abbey Park High School. These fees are used to support Awards and Recognition, Grade 9 Transition, LINK Crew, Assemblies, Groups and Clubs, Student Leadership, High Level Competitions and a variety of other amazing clubs / events that make Abbey Park the incredible school that it is!
This fee will be attached to all students' School Cash Online accounts.
