Good afternoon, AVPS Families,
What a great school start up week! From the buzz of excitement on the blacktop the first morning to the amazing community building activities that have been happening in the classrooms, AVPS has hit the ground running. Our students were able to reconnect with friends, meet new classmates and get to know their new teachers. If you need any information about AVPS, please see the AVPS Welcome Sheet.
Medications and Plans of Care
If your child has a Plan of Care, please complete the HDSB ANNUAL REVIEW OF MEDICAL INFORMATION FORM by September 14th. If your child has a NEW or CHANGE in medical diagnosis, please complete one of the following forms to initiate the process for your child’s Plan of Care:
-Form 1: Request for School Personnel to Administer the Medication
-Form 2: Authorization for Self-Administration
2026-2027 Transportation Schedules Now Available
Your child’s transportation schedule can be viewed through the Parent Portal via Halton Bus.
Opt Out of Student Transportation: If your child is ELIGIBLE but will NOT require transportation to and/or from school, please inform us by completing the Opt Out Form. If you require transportation to be reinstated in the future, notify the school office with your desired start date. School staff will coordinate with HSTS to assign your child to the bus stop nearest your home. Note: we require at least five business days’ notice to reinstate transportation services.
Student Safety
We want to draw your attention to a few items that will help support our students’ and their safety while on our school property. Our first priority is the safety and well-being of all our students and their families.

When dropping off your child in the Kiss and Ride loop (large parking lot), please ensure you are not parked curbside or dropping off your child in the middle of the lane, interrupting the flow of traffic. If you need to park and wait for your child, please use the available parking spots in the middle of our parking lot. Try to have your child get in/out of the car curbside.

For both before and after school, please stay off of the blacktop area to allow our staff to have the space and sight-lines required to safely supervise students.

The east parking lot (small lot) and the bus loop (in front of the building) are out-of-bounds during pick-up and drop-off. The bus loop is only for our buses and students who need extra help getting into and out of their cars. Overcrowding in these areas are leading to unsafe conditions for our students as they walk to and from our property.

When dropping off your children at the front doors in the morning, students are expected to report to the Office. Parents are not to be in the building without formally signing into the Office.
