HDSB Secondary School Open House

On Saturday, September 26, 2026, the Halton District School Board will host a board-wide, interactive Open House at Craig Kielburger Secondary School in Milton from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

This event is designed to help students in Grades 6–10 and their families explore the full range of opportunities available across our secondary schools, including programs and pathways, academics, athletics, clubs, community and support and student life.

Pizza Wednesdays - Term 1

Term 1 Pizza ordering will begin online via School Cash Online on September 9, 2026 and orders will close on September 20, 2026. ABSOLUTELY NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED. The first pizza term will start on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 and end on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, for a total of 6 weeks. If you require assistance with School Cash Online setup, please follow the instructions.

Important Note: In the event that buses are cancelled OR school is closed due to inclement weather, that Wednesday will have no pizza. Instead, the pizza for that Wednesday will be delivered at the END of the term, before a new term begins (i.e. if October 7th is cancelled, and the last pizza day for the term is on October 30th, November 4th will be the make-up day for October 7th). Please provide lunch for your child if you are sending them to school on any Wednesday where they receive pizza but buses are cancelled.

Hearing/Vision Screening

SSA Clinic provides hearing and vision screening, and will be at our school on Monday, September 21, 2026. Please see more details and signup here. The deadline for registration is September 18th, at 9am. A fee is collected, and processed online, separately by the clinic.

Help 400 HDSB Students Start School with Confidence

As students across our community head back to school, some will arrive without the basics they need: a backpack, school supplies, or even lunch. The Halton Learning Foundation (HLF), thanks to our generous community, is here to help.

HLF launched its Back-to-School campaign, with the help of its cheerful helper, Carrie the Backpack, to support 400 HDSB students by September 30. Families are counting on this support, and HLF is asking our generous community to step in urgently so they can continue to say “YES” to every request for emergency support they receive.

Here's what one parent shared about what saying “YES” meant to her family:

Just wanted to say how grateful I am for this support. I’m a single mom, and because of your help, I’m able to get what my daughter needs for back-to-school and food, and I’m so unbelievably grateful for the support.

Join The Parent Council

As a School Council member, you can help discover new and exciting ways to contribute to the education of students in your school. Education is a partnership involving parents, students, teachers, principals, school boards, government, and the community. Your involvement in the council gives you the opportunity to strengthen that partnership, and to be part of a dedicated team working to ensure a high quality of education and an accountable education system for the children of Ontario (Ministry of Education).  

MEMBERS ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
School Councils recruit new voting members whose primary role is to enhance the involvement and contributions of the school community.

As a voting member you will:

  • attend Council meetings; 4 per year
  • participate actively in the events sponsored by Council
  •      bring a school-wide perspective on Council issues and support Council decisions
  •      act as a link between Council and the community
  •     encourage the participation of parents, guardians and others within the school community in Council sponsored activities.

First Meeting ~ Monday, Sept. 29th @ 6:00 PM.

Grade 8-9 Transitions Family Livestream Event ~ SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24th

The HDSB Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) invites parents/guardians and community members to attend the upcoming Parent Involvement Committee Conference on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Elsie MacGill Secondary School in Milton.

The theme for this year’s event is Get Connected. Parents/guardians are invited to explore practical workshops on Student Mental Health and Well Being, Special Education, Generative AI and Social Media, Literacy, Mathematics, School Pathways, Equity and Inclusion. Come learn, connect and discover ways to support student success. Registration is now open for this free event, including childcare, a light lunch and transportation within Halton Region.

Free Screening ~ Screenagers Generation A.I.

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, we are offering two screenings of Screenagers: Generation AI at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The film examines how artificial intelligence has rapidly entered the lives of young people and what it means for their relationships, learning and well-being. The free screenings are at Film.ca Cinemas Oakville  (171 Speers Rd.) and open to parents/guardians, educators, interested community members and students in Grade 4 and above.
