Semester 1 Final Evaluations
Please review the Final Evaluation Schedule and contact teachers with any questions. All exams must be completed in person on their scheduled dates. Please note that the cafeteria servery will be closed during the exam period. Buses will run on their regular schedule.
- Period 5: Thursday, January 22 at 9:30 am
- Period 4: Friday, January 23 at 9:30 am
- Period 3: Friday, January 23 at 12:45 pm
- Period 2: Monday, January 26 at 9:30 am
- Period 1: Tuesday, January 27 at 9:30 am
Important Dates & Deadlines
- Jan. 16: Deadline to request a reschedule if you have two exams on Jan. 23. Contact Ms. Everett in the main office (everettla@hdsb.ca).
- Jan. 29: Exam Review Day
- Jan. 30: PD Day (No school)
- Feb. 2: Semester 2 begins
Attendance & Absences during exams
- Illness during exams: Report via go.schoolmessenger.ca and contact an administrator.
- Planned Absences: Extenuating circumstances must be discussed with your child’s Vice Principal.
- Emergency Closures: If buses are cancelled or school is closed, exams for that day will be postponed. Check your email for a revised schedule.
Grade 9 Snack and Study
Are you in Grade 9 and worried about upcoming exams? Join your Navigators for "Snack and Study" in the GDHS library on Thursday January 15th after school from 3:21 pm to 5:00 pm to learn more about exams at GDHS. Snacks will be provided and you will have time to study with other grade 9 students and receive support from your Navigators.
*Note: you must have your own transportation home
Vanguard Scholars
Vanguard Scholars, a flagship program of the BlackNorth Initiative, is a six-year academic and career development program for high-achieving Black students across Canada. The inaugural cohort begins Summer 2026.
Students selected for the program will participate in two consecutive six-week Summer Academies focused on rigorous academic enrichment and leadership development, followed by multi-year support including individualized university counselling, mentorship, career exploration, and academic guidance through to university completion.The organization will be hosting two remaining information sessions for interested grade 11 Black-identifying, university bound students and families, with the impending application deadline of January 31:

Mental Health And Well-Being
The Halton District School Board is hosting Mental Health & Well-Being Information Sessions for parents/guardians throughout the year covering specific topics based on feedback from families. Each session will be led by a mental health expert in that area who will share their knowledge and provide helpful information and resources.
The upcoming sessions include:
- Executive Functions in Teens: How Parents Can Help Students Thrive | Jan. 20 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
- Helping Your Child Build Positive Relationships and Manage Conflict | Jan. 22 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
- Halton ADAPT (Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Assessment, Prevention & Treatment Services) - Exploring Our Services | Jan. 27 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
- AI, Well-Being and the Digital World | Feb. 4 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
- Shaping How Kids Feel About Food: Mindful Language and Everyday Actions | Feb. 10 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Registration Details:
Families and staff can register by completing the Mental Health & Well-Being InformationSession Registration Form. Registration is required as limited spots are available. Registrants will be emailed a link to access the session. Questions can be submitted when completing the registration form or during the session. Sessions will not be recorded.
Sessions will be held on Google Meet, where closed captioning is available in various languages. Please note: The Shaping How Kids Feel About Food: Mindful Language and Everyday Actions session will be hosted by Halton Region Public Health and held on Zoom.
