School Council 2026-2027

School Council meets once a month to provide parent feedback to our staff and teachers, coordinate support programs, organize events, as well as fundraising initiatives to finance special programs and resources at the school. There are so many ways to support our students. Even if you are unable to commit to being a part of our School Council, please consider volunteering -tell us how you would like to use your talents.

1. Parent Council Roles

2. Recap of Fundraising/Community Events Plan Made in May

 

  • October 22nd @ 3:35pm - Costume swap details confirmed tonight

    • Parents can drop off costumes in the office from October 13th to October 22nd

    • Event runs until 6pm

  • November - clothing and book swap (date tbd)

  • Lumberjack popcorn - Lyndsay Robson to look into financials and see if it’s worth doing again

  • MacMillan Fundraiser - December

  • Carnival in February, possibly attached to Winter Celebration Week. Glow Stick Fundraiser suggested, although we have to research to see if it aligns with board’s policy around environmental sustainability

  • March - games night 

  • April - black creek coffee fundraiser with art show 

 

 

 

3. Jungle Sport Update

  • Company was wonderful to work with and the employees went above and beyond to make the experience inclusive. 

  • Each class had multiple opportunities to experience the event, despite an equipment glitch on Monday

  • The general consensus was that the experience was expensive but worth it. Parent council talked about trying to do it every other year possibly. 

 

 

 

 

6. Clubs at Robert Little

 

  • Flag Football (grades 5 & 6) - Tryouts were held the 2nd week of school. The team practices on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have a tournament coming up on October 14th in Burlington.

  • Student Diversity and Wellness Crew (grades 4-6) - A club for students who want to help make our school a kinder, happier, and more inclusive place for everyone. Meets on Thursdays first half of first break.

    • Wellness Goal for Oct/Nov - Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week (Nov. 16-20th) students will be creating the activities for the week and will share with families in the upcoming ROL newsletters.

    • Diversity Goal for Oct/Nov - Community of Care Winter Drive (Nov. 26/27th) Clothing Collection to start soon, stay tuned!

  • Coding Club (grades 3-6) - Starting October 23rd, held in the library every Friday during second break

  • Dance Decor Club - to set up Halloween Dance

  • Radio Club (grade 6) - Do daily morning announcements
