Before & After School Care

The Halton District School Board (HDSB) offers directly operated Before and After School Programs (BASP) for children aged 3 years, 8 months to 12 years during the school year at the following locations:

  • Lakeshore Public School, Burlington
  • Central Public School, Burlington
  • John T. Tuck Public School, Burlington
  • Tecumseh Public School, Burlington
  • Kilbride Public School, Burlington
  • Cedar Ridge Public School, Milton
  • Harvest Oak Public School, Oakville

All other HDSB schools provide Before and After School care through licensed third-party child care operators. All programs are regulated by the Ministry of Education's Quality Assurance and Licensing Branch under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.

Programs run Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on instructional days.

2025–2026 Before & After School Program

Pre-Registration

Update (April 28): Confirmation emails for full-time care (Monday to Friday) starting September 3, 2025, have been sent to families. If you have not received a confirmation, your child remains on the waitlist. We will contact you by email if a space becomes available.

Pre-registration opens at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Families seeking care for the 2025–2026 school year must pre-register using the OneHSN/OneList online system, available through the HDSB Before & After School portal.

Important: Families currently enrolled in the 2024–2025 program must re-register. Current registrations and waitlist applications do not carry over to the next school year.

Pre-registration secures a spot on the waitlist for care starting in September 2025.

Program confirmations will begin April 1, 2025.

Priority will be given to families requesting full-time (Monday to Friday) care. Part-time requests will be considered after June 1, 2025.

Full-time care is defined as families requiring before and after school care, Monday to Friday.

Part-time schedules are set days. We will provide before and/or after school care on the following days:

  • ​Tuesday and Thursday schedule; OR
  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule

  • Before and after care
  • Before school only
  • After school only

Due to the high demand for before and after school care and to maximize the number of registered families in the programs, we do not accommodate customized schedules.

Due to the high demand for before and after school care, if a request is made to change a full-time schedule to a part-time schedule and there is a full-time care waitlist for the program, your child will be removed from the attendance and placed on the waitlist. Once a part-time space becomes available, you will be contacted with a start date and invited to re-register.

Before and after care schedule change requests will be considered but are not guaranteed. ​​​

Confirmation emails will be sent to families with confirmed spaces in the program (based on the pre-registration information) after April 1, 2025. Emails will be followed up with a live link to complete the registration process.​
