Report Cards
Elementary Report Cards: Grades 1–8
Students in Grades 1 to 8 receive three report cards during the school year:
- Progress Report Card – November
- Provincial Report Card – February
- Provincial Report Card – June
The purpose of report cards is to communicate student achievement with parents/guardians and students. Each report includes descriptive feedback that is clear, specific, meaningful, and timely—helping support student growth and learning.
Progress Report Card – November
This report focuses on six key learning skills and work habits essential for success:
- Responsibility
- Organization
- Independent Work
- Collaboration
- Initiative
- Self-Regulation
It does not include letter grades or marks. Instead, teachers provide comments on how students are progressing toward curriculum expectations.
Shortly after the report is sent home, a parent/guardian-teacher interview (with or without the student) provides an opportunity to:
- Discuss the student’s progress
- Review portfolios of student learning
- Set goals and next steps for improvement
Collaboration between teachers, families and students helps support learning and achievement.
Provincial Report Cards – February & June
These report cards include:
- Letter grades (Grades 1–6) or numerical marks (Grades 7–8)
- Comments about achievement in each subject area
- Feedback on the six learning skills
Regular communication between home and school is encouraged throughout the year.
