Dear Parents, Guardians, & Students, 

Gr. 9 -12 Parent Teacher Interview Night

Save the date! Parent - Teacher Interviews are scheduled for Thursday, March 26th, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.  Informal meet-the-teacher time will be from 5:30-6:00pm in the gyms, and formal interview times will be from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.  

A letter will be sent home on Monday, March 9th, with a link for parents and guardians to select their interview times with the relevant teacher(s).  

Gr. 9-12 Semi-Formal Dance

Lions Leadership is excited to announce the upcoming Spring Bloom Semi-Formal Dance

It will be held at the OE Conference & Banquet Hall in Oakville on April 9th.

Tickets are available on School Cash Online for a limited time. The cost is $32.00 If your child plans to bring a guest from another school, they must purchase a ticket for them and pick up a form from the main office. This form must be completed and signed by the Principal of the guest's school.

Halton Skills Competition 

After the break, a group of Aldershot students in Gr. 9 to 12 will participate in the Halton Skills Competition on Tuesday, March 31st at Nelson High School. Our largest group of Aldershot students yet  will compete in the following areas:

Mechanical & Architectural Design, Photography, Video Production, Carpentry, Cabinetmaking, Coding, Robotics, Fashion, and Small-Powered Equipment.  We wish them luck at Halton Skills!"

Gr. 7 & 8 Pizza, Popcorn & Sub Days – April, May & June

The final round of our Pizza, Popcorn, and Subs fundraiser is now available to purchase on School Cash Online. Orders will be open until April 2nd, so be sure to secure your lunch selections before the deadline. Don’t miss out - the ordering portal closes on April 2nd!

Park Avenue Construction to Resume

We have been informed by the City/Region that watermain replacement and road work will resume in March. I believe staging will begin next week, with the actual work commencing later in March. Plans can be found in the link below. Please consider avoiding Park Avenue when walking to school and for drop-offs, where possible, to ensure your student's safety.  Click here for further details.

Grade 12 Grad Photos – LAST CHANCE

This is your final opportunity to schedule your in-school graduation photos on Friday, March 13th. Click here to book your appointment time. Studio appointments will also be available for those who are unable to attend on the scheduled in-school date. Don’t miss out!

Grade 12 Celebration - Monday, June 8th, 2026 at 5:00 p.m

A letter was shared today with all grade 12 families, detailing the grade 12 Celebration.  Here is a link to the letter with event details and payment information. 

OSSLT

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) assesses whether students are meeting the literacy standard across all subjects. Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. At Aldershot this semester, the following groups will be writing the OSSLT between April 8 and April 20th. 

  • Grade 10 students with English scheduled in semester 2 will complete the OSSLT with their English classes on April 8, 9, 15 and 16. 

  • Grade 11 and 12 students will write on April 15 and 16. 

A letter to families will be sent home with more information. Students have the opportunity to become familiar with the online test and its platform through EQAO’s online practice test.  For more information about EQAO you are encouraged to visit EQAO’s website www.eqao.com

Mental Health Ontario

We are excited to share a valuable opportunity to support your child’s well-being. Reminder - Order your Yearbook Now!

Students wishing to purchase a 2025-2026 Yearbook may also use School Cash Online.  The Yearbook cost is $45.00. Orders need to be placed by April 30th, 2025.  Don’t miss out on this keepsake of the school year!

Halton Region Public Health – Support for Children’s Oral Health

Programs and services offered to families and educators:   

  • Year-round dental screening appointments: 

Free dental screenings are available at Public Health Clinics for children aged 0–17.  

  • Support for families with dental care costs: 

Public Health staff can help families access dental financial assistance programs such as Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO) and the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

Vaping Awareness for Families

 “The Quash Program” is inviting all parents and caregivers to join them on March 25th or April 21st for a webinar to gain knowledge and understand your role in addressing youth vaping. The Quash Program is facilitated by the Lung Health Foundation and this event is presented with support from  the Ontario Ministry of Education. Please see more information HERE

Brampton Honey Badgers Gr. 7-10 Phys. Ed. Student Presentation

On April 1st, the Brampton Honey Badgers are presenting Bouncing Back: Mental Resilience on and Off the Court. In this talk, Prince speaks of his experiences achieving his goals in professional basketball while learning life skills such as discipline, self-reflection, accountability, belief, and collaboration within a team.  For full details, please refer to the event flyer here.

Grade 9-12 Fifth Week Reports

Fifth week reports go home on Thursday, March 5th, to:

  • ALL Grade 9 students who are progressing well (above 60%)

  • Students in Grade 9-12 who are experiencing difficulty in a course (i.e. student mark, in the teacher’s professional judgement, is below 60%)

The teacher will provide a comment highlighting one or two areas of concern and recommending strategies for improvement. This includes students in Self Paced Learning. Students in I-STEM will NOT receive a Fifth Week report as their courses run for the entire year.
