About Us

Welcome to Alexander’s Public School

Established in 2006 in the heart of Burlington’s Orchard neighbourhood (located at 2223 Sutton Drive), Alexander’s Public School is a vibrant K–8 Dual Track school offering both English and French Immersion programs. We are a proud community dedicated to the growth of the whole child, recognized for our inclusive environment, and deeply committed to meeting a wide range of learner needs.

Our History & Naming Legacy

Our school carries a deeply meaningful name. The name Alexander originates with the tragic story of Alexander Hohol, a John T. Tuck student who passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm at the age of 13 in 1999. The name "Alexander" is proudly affixed to the exterior of our building, and we continue to actively honor his memory every year. During our graduation ceremony, a member of the Hohol family personally presents the Alexander Award to a graduating Grade 8 student who embodies the spirit of our school community.

Our Vision & Core Values

At Alexander’s, everything we do is anchored by a simple yet powerful framework that guides our students from Kindergarten through Grade 8:

  • BE KIND / SOYEZ GENTIL: We commit to building a culture of empathy and inclusion where every "Coyote" looks out for one another, ensuring that ALX feels like a second home for everyone.

  • BE CURIOUS / SOYEZ CURIEUX: We encourage a "learning by doing" spirit that welcomes questions, values different perspectives, and prepares our students to be lifelong problem-solvers in an ever-changing world.

  • BE BRAVE / SOYEZ COURAGEUX: We empower students to take risks, stand up for what is right, and have the confidence to follow their own path as they transition into leaders in their own lives.

Inclusive Excellence & Special Education

We are a school where every identity is celebrated and every person belongs. A vital part of our school includes our two Community Pathways Elementary Program (CPE), which support students with complex special education needs, ensuring that our commitment to inclusion is felt across all classrooms.

Environmental Leadership

We believe education extends far beyond the classroom walls. Alexander’s Public School is proud to house the HDSB’s Environmental Leadership Learning Centre—an innovative, regional hub for experiential environmental education, student leadership, and staff professional learning. Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to foster creative, climate-focused learning, this space is also home to Nature's NEAR (a Halton District School Board Experiential Outdoor and Environmental Education Initiative). This unique partnership fosters co-learning among our ALX staff and students while building confidence in taking real-world action for positive change.

The Power of the Pack

At Alexander’s, we truly believe in The Power of the Pack. We work together to build a strong, supportive community where our global identities are celebrated, relationships are prioritized, and students leave us real-world ready.
