These forms are very important to complete as it allows the office to update any contact information that may have changed. We ask that if you have not completed this form yet to please do so ASAP.
Reminder: Students Returning from Appointments
This is a friendly reminder that students are required to check back into the office when they return to school from an appointment.
Checking in with the office allows us to update the student’s attendance record and confirm that they have safely returned to school.
Nutrition Break Pick Ups
We kindly ask that, whenever possible, you plan to pick up your child outside of our nutrition break times. During these breaks, many students are outside, making it difficult for staff to quickly locate individual students.
Our nutrition break times are:

Morning Nutrition Break: 10:15–10:55 a.m.

Afternoon Nutrition Break: 12:55–1:35 p.m.
We appreciate your cooperation in planning pick-ups outside of these times whenever possible. This helps us ensure that we can locate students efficiently and maintain proper supervision during nutrition breaks.
Terry Fox
Centennial PS has a proud history of supporting the Terry Fox foundation in raising money for cancer research. Each grade team has been challenged to raise $600 towards our $1800 school goal. We are providing some donation links for each grade as well as a general link in case you have more than one student at the school. Together, we can do this!

Get Involved! Join the Centennial School Council This Year
Education is a partnership between parents, staff, and our broader community. Joining the School Council is a wonderful way to contribute to your child's educational experience, collaborate with school leaders, and help strengthen our school community.
Whether you want to hold an official role or simply drop in to stay informed, all parents and guardians are welcome to attend our meetings.
Key Roles Open for Nomination:

General Council Members: Attend regular meetings, participate in discussions, and represent the parent community.

Chair / Co-Chair: Prepare meeting agendas with the Principal, facilitate council meetings, and act as a main point of contact.

Secretary: Record and distribute meeting minutes and maintain council records.

Treasurer: Oversee council expenditures and present financial updates.

Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) Rep: Represent Centennial at two HDSB regional meetings per year and share updates back with our council.

It’s Hearing and Vision Screening Time!
Our clinic will be at your school Centennial on: October 29th, 2026

Deadline for registration is October 27th, at 9am and the duration at the school may be adjusted based on student participation
Your child’s Hearing and Vision should be screened every year
A fee of $25.00 is collected to help offset the cost of bringing this clinic to your school
Why Screening Matters:
-
Growing children are very susceptible to middle ear problems and one of the best ways to prevent hearing loss is early detection of middle ear function issues.
-
Vision issues are common in children, so early detection is crucial for their healthy development and academic success.
Our screening program helps identify hearing and vision concerns before they impact learning and social development, ensuring children get the support they need to thrive. As part of the program, we will refer any results that are considered outside the normal range to the parents for follow-up with their physician and/or optometrist.
For hearing concerns, we recommend bringing your child’s result form to your physician, who can then refer you to an ENT specialist, which is covered by OHIP. Alternatively, you have the option to schedule an appointment with an Audiologist without needing a referral from your family physician. Please note that visits to an Audiologist may not be covered by OHIP, and you could incur a fee ranging from $75 to $150 or more.
Your child's hearing is not being monitored unless they're seeing an audiologist or an ENT specialist, making our screening program a valuable resource for your child's health. While eye exams are covered by OHIP, our hearing clinic offers a basic vision screening for students participating in the hearing clinic.

Scholars’ Hub - Grade 7 & 8 students
Scholars’ Hub is a free, in-person academic support initiative led by experienced Halton District School Board (HDSB) educators. Scholars’ Hub provides targeted academic support in a supportive, engaging learning environment.
Who Can Participate?
The program is open to Grade 7–8 students from elementary schools that feed into
Georgetown District High School, including: Centennial PS, Ethel Gardiner PS, George Kennedy PS, Glen Williams PS, Harrison PS, Joseph Gibbons PS, Park PS, Pineview PS, Silver Creek PS, Limehouse PS and Stewarttown Middle School.
Students will attend sessions at the secondary school their elementary school feeds into, helping them become familiar with the high school environment.
What Does the Program Offer?

Focused support in literacy and numeracy in a welcoming, encouraging environment to build skills and confidence

Homework help and guided practice

Support for the transition to secondary school

Smaller class sizes with individualized attention and meaningful learning support
Program Schedule
Scholars’ Hub is offered for five weeks, with students attending two sessions per week.

HDSB Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)
The HDSB Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) invites parents/guardians and community members to attend the upcoming Parent Involvement Committee Conference on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Elsie MacGill Secondary School in Milton.
The theme for this year’s event is Get Connected. Parents/guardians are invited to explore practical workshops on Student Mental Health and Well Being, Special Education, Generative AI and Social Media, Literacy, Mathematics, School Pathways, Equity and Inclusion. Come learn, connect and discover ways to support student success. Registration is now open for this free event, including childcare, a light lunch and transportation within Halton Region.

Help 400 HDSB Students Start School with Confidence
As students across our community head back to school, some will arrive without the basics they need: a backpack, school supplies, or even lunch. The Halton Learning Foundation (HLF), thanks to our generous community, is here to help.
HLF launched its Back-to-School campaign, with the help of its cheerful helper, Carrie the Backpack, to support 400 HDSB students by September 30. Families are counting on this support, and HLF is asking our generous community to step in urgently so they can continue to say “YES” to every request for emergency support they receive.
Here's what one parent shared about what saying “YES” meant to her family:
“Just wanted to say how grateful I am for this support. I’m a single mom, and because of your help, I’m able to get what my daughter needs for back-to-school and food, and I’m so unbelievably grateful for the support.”

Screenagers Generation AI
Free Screening of Screenagers Generation AI If you are able, please include the following in your school newsletter (grades 4 and above) On Wednesday, Sept. 23, we are offering two screenings of Screenagers: Generation AI at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The film examines how artificial intelligence has rapidly entered the lives of young people and what it means for their relationships, learning and well-being. The free screenings are at Film.ca Cinemas Oakville (171 Speers Rd.) and open to parents/guardians, educators, interested community members and students in Grade 4 and above.
