Principal’s Message
Nighthawk Families,
It has been a true joy getting to know the heart of C.H. Norton over the past few months. I may have joined this nest mid-flight, but I am quickly learning that the strength of this school lies in the way we support one another through every stage of the learning journey. As we settle into the rhythm of the spring season, I have been reflecting on the incredible work happening inside our walls and the shared path we are walking together.
As we partner to help our students become the best versions of themselves, we are intentionally embracing every step of their development. We do not shy away from hard work. Those uphill moments, tackling a complex math problem or mastering a new skill, are exactly where our students build their strongest resilience and academic "muscle."
Sometimes the most profound learning happens when things don't go as planned. We are teaching our Nighthawks that a detour is often just an invitation to problem-solve and view a challenge from a fresh angle. There is nothing quite like the "aha!" moment when a student catches a glimpse of their own potential. Those sparks of realization are what keep us moving forward with purpose.
While we always keep our eyes on future goals, my priority is for our community to be remarkably present in the "now." We want to pause and celebrate the student achievement happening in our classrooms every single day. Achievement at C.H. Norton isn't always a podium moment; often, it is the quiet confidence of a student raising their hand for the first time or the simple kindness shown to a peer on the yard. These are the milestones that truly define our school spirit.
Alongside Ms. Savo, our Vice Principal, we are deeply committed to a school culture where student success is built on the foundation of the HDSB Multi-Year Strategic Plan. We are focusing on providing the responsive instruction and keeping the bar high for every student to maximize their true potential. We believe that academic achievement goes hand-in-hand with fostering a strong sense of connection, ensuring C.H. Norton remains a space where every student feels a genuine sense of belonging and has the support they need to thrive.
Thank you, families, for your continued partnership as we support our students' growth together. We look forward to the journey ahead.
Mrs. Andrea McAra
