Scholars Hub Afterschool Program
Free Literacy Support for Grade 7–8 Students in Milton
Scholars Hub is a free, in-person program designed to support Grade 7 and 8 students as they strengthen their literacy skills and prepare for a successful transition to high school.
Led by experienced Halton District School Board (HDSB) educators, Scholars Hub provides targeted academic support in a supportive, engaging learning environment.
Who Can Participate?
The program is open to Grade 7–8 students from elementary schools that feed into:
Craig Kielburger Secondary School (CKSS)
- Hawthorne Village Public School
- Irma Coulson Public School
- Tiger Jeet Singh Public School
- Cedar Ridge Public School
Milton District High School (MDHS)
- Bruce Trail Public School
- Chris Hadfield Public School
- Escarpment View Public School
- Martin Street Public School
- Sam Sherratt Public School
- W.I. Dick Public School
Students will attend sessions at the secondary school their elementary school feeds into, helping them become familiar with the high school environment.

- Small-group instruction with two certified HDSB teachers per class

Each class includes up to 18-20 students, ensuring individualized attention and meaningful learning support.
Program Schedule
Scholars Hub is offered in two five-week cycles, with students attending two sessions per week.
Session Length: 90 minutes
Time: 4:30 – 6 p.m. (drop off starting at 4:00 p.m.)
Days: Tuesday and Thursday at CKSS | Monday and Wednesday at MDHS
First session: Monday, Feb. 9 – Friday, March 13
