Take Me Outside Day
Take Me Outside Day is Canada's national celebration of outdoor learning, bringing together educators, learners, schools, organizations, families, and communities from across Canada and around the world to celebrate and expand learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. On October 21st we are participating in ‘Take Me Outside Day’! This day helps to raise awareness about outdoor learning by encouraging educators to take their learners outside.
Waste-Free Wednesdays Coming to EVP!
Escarpment View PS will start a new initiative this year to reduce our school’s waste! When we go waste-free, we are helping to reduce the environmental impacts caused from the unnecessary transportation, production, and disposal of packaging products. (Eco-Schools)
We invite students and families to pack a lunch that does not generate unnecessary waste. A waste-free lunch may include reusable food and drink containers, washable cutlery, and cloth napkins instead of prepackaged foods, single-use plastic baggies, juice boxes and pouches, paper napkins, aluminum foil, and disposable utensils. EVP is asking for one item to start this initiative and it would be great for your family to work together to decide what to pack!
October is Walktober Month!
October is International Walk to School Month! Next week, all staff are invited to take a tally the week of October 19th counting the number of students who walked or rolled to school! And as we are a Sustainable Future School and work hard with all the Eco-School initiatives, we are using GOOS (Good On One Side) paper for each class!
Virtual Announcements Prompt of the Day
Each week, we meet as a school community virtually to connect all of us together! During this time, we provide a Prompt of the Day that aligns with one of the HDSB’s commitments. Please find this week’s prompt below:
Kindness, Connection and Community: One way to build COMMUNITY is through small acts of courtesy and kindness. For example, holding the door open for the person behind you. What small acts of kindness do people do for each other in your class?
Halloween and Parade
With Halloween approaching, we would like to share how our school will be engaging and provide a few reminders to help make the day safe and enjoyable for everyone. Students may choose to wear a costume, our school colours or Spirit Wear on Friday, October 30th. There is no expectation for your child to dress up in a costume. If your child chooses to dress in a costume, please help ensure their costume supports the positive and welcoming environment we strive for at our school.
Costume expectations:
○ Costumes should be fun and respectful
○ Costumes that mimic cultural, religious, racial or gender identities are not appropriate
○ Avoid costumes intended to overly frighten or cause distress
○ Masks or replica weapons are not acceptable at school

We will be hosting a Halloween parade for students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 on Friday, October 30th beginning promptly at 9:20am. Families are welcome to join us!
A reminder that snacks and treats are not to be shared with students and that all items brought into the school are to be nut free. Please check ingredients prior to packing snacks and lunches.
Reminder Medical Danger - Anaphylaxis
We are asking all students, families and members of our school community to adhere to the following requests regarding peanuts/tree nuts:
● Lunches and snacks are free of peanuts and tree nuts
● Read food labels, checking for peanut/nut ingredients prior to sending them to school.
● Ensure food from takeout restaurants is free from nuts, AND free from cross-contamination of nuts.
● If peanut butter is eaten at home before school, ensure lips, mouth and hands are washed thoroughly before attending school (this is truly an essential action to prevent cross contamination).
Popcorn Fundraiser
We are offering a popcorn fundraiser this year for students to enjoy popcorn! The popcorn is provided by Lumber Heads Food Co. Please find details below.

Snack Program at EVP
We wish to thank Halton Food For Thought for supporting EVP’s Snack Program. This year, bins of healthy snacks will be available in classrooms.
Municipal Elections
Escarpment View PS will be hosting this year’s Municipal Elections on October 26, 2026. Please keep this in mind as the school will be busier than usual on this date.

administration of municipal elections in Milton.
Milton’s Municipal Elections take place on Monday, Oct. 16. Eligible voters can cast their ballot
during advance voting from Oct. 12 to 15 or on Election Day. Visit

eligibility requirements and other election information. Have your say by voting for the Mayor,
