We hope you are enjoying the week! We look forward to welcoming students next week!
You will find important and helpful information below regarding first day details and school information and routines below. It is very important that you read all of the information provided. We are sharing important details in this message to help with the transition to school for all of our students. We appreciate your time in reading the information in this email.
FIRST DAY Drop Off/Pick Up Routines
We have prepared a slideshow with all of our maps for your reference linked here. Below you will find specific slides linked for your child’s grade level as well.
Kindergarten Students
Our educators are excited to meet your children and will be happy to say a quick hello to you, but they will not be able to engage in long conversations at this time. Contact your child’s educators by email to share information or arrange a time for a phone call or meeting.

Kindergarten students in K1, K2, K3, K4 and KF 5 will be dropped off at Door #12 (see linked map). Families are asked to form a line in front of the orange safety cone that is labelled with your child’s class code. Educators at the door will greet families one at a time and escort your child to their classroom inside the school. Pick up will be in the same location. Thank you in advance for your patience during this process.
Students in Grades 1 - 6

On the first day, staff will be outside on the hardtop at the back of the school greeting their students and will hold up a sign with their name and class code

At the end of the day, teachers will walk students out of the school to the hardtop at the back of the school where you are invited to pick up your child.

Will have direct entry to their classroom. Students will be allowed entry beginning at 8:35. Please show your child the linked floor plan so they can become familiar with where they will be going. We will have staff supervisors helping direct students to their locations.

At the end of the day, teachers will walk students out of the school, please arrange a meeting location if you plan to pick them up. Please note that parking lot entrances are not suitable meeting locations because these are no stopping zones. We ask that you do not have your child to wait for you near a parking lot entrance.

****In the event of inclement weather (i.e., heavy rain, thunderstorms), an alternate plan will be shared with you on Monday, September 7th.

Here are some of the key reminders as we begin our school year.
Arriving at School on Time
Arriving at school on time sets students up for success! We ask that you please be on time as late arrivals disrupt the instruction that is taking place in class.
Allergy Reminders: Nut and Seed Butters
At Escarpment View we have a number of students with life-threatening allergies to various nuts and seeds. For this reason, we do not allow any nut or seed butters of any kind. This includes products such as sunflower butter, pea butter, Nutella, “Wow Butter” and tahini. These products have a spreadable quality that can easily contaminate surfaces such as desks and door knobs and therefore present a significant risk for a life-threatening allergic reaction.
Attendance
A reminder that if your child will be absent from school, you must report the absence in School Messenger. Information can be found here. Attendance is taken at the start of period 1 and at the start of period 3 (after first nutrition break).

Each week, on Friday afternoon, you will receive an Escarpment View Weekly Update where information, highlighting all the wonderful learning and experiences and updates will be shared with you. Please read the emails as this is one of the ways to stay connected with our community. These messages will be shared via School Messenger.

We will also be sharing messages throughout the week as needed and these messages will be shared using School Messenger.

Dropping Off Items
If you need to drop off an item at school for your child, please ensure it is labelled with your child’s first and last name and teacher. We have a drop off table in our front foyer.
E-Scooters
Please be aware that electric scooters are prohibited on all school sidewalks, playgrounds and within school buildings. E-scooters are not permitted to be stored in school.
In Halton, e-scooters are not permitted on public roads, sidewalks or trails. E-scooters must be operated on personal property and the rider must be at least 16 years old.
An e-scooter is a vehicle that has:
● two wheels (one at the front and one at the back)
● a platform to stand on 3
● a handlebar for steering
● an electric motor that does not exceed 500 watts
● a maximum speed of 24 km/h on a level surface
In addition to adhering to local by-laws, e-scooter riders are required under the Highway Traffic Act to use a CSA-approved motorcycle or bicycle helmet (if under the age of 18).

The Town of Milton has also shared information on E-scooters not being currently permitted to operate on public property in Milton. Please find details on the Town of Milton site here.
Parking Lots are Closed at Morning Entry and Dismissal Time
To ensure the safety of all of our students, all of our parking lots are closed to vehicles before school and at dismissal time (there will be no entry permitted). Please do not arrive early to park at dismissal time. We encourage our families to walk or ride their bikes to school to reduce vehicle congestion on the road. It is important that we work together to ensure student safety and well-being. Please follow the rules of the road and pay particular attention to the signage on the street.
Prescription Medications
If your child has prescribed medication that needs to be kept at school (i.e., epipens, puffers), please send the spare medication to school on their first day and the homeroom teachers will deliver it to the office. Alternatively, you are welcome to drop off to the main office. Please contact our Vice Principal, Melissa Hanmer, for more information about medications at school.
SAVE THE DATE!
The EVP School Council has planned our annual EVP Fun Fair for the upcoming school year! We know this event will be a fabulous way to welcome families, meet new neighbors, and build our school community. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 23rd. We look forward to seeing you there!

School Spirit at EVP
We believe in a strong sense of belonging and one way we show our EVP pride and sense of community is by wearing our school colours or EVP Spirit Wear every Thursday! Everyone is welcome to wear black and/or yellow every Thursday! We will share details on how to order EVP Spirit Wear in a few weeks.
What to bring to school
• Label all items that come to school
• Lunch, extra water bottles, clothing for the weather (e.g., raincoat and hats) -we will be spending a portion of our day outside in addition to outdoor nutrition breaks and look forward to the learning opportunities that will take place outside - please ensure your child is dressed for the weather
• Please note that students are not permitted to bring personal technology to school (e.g. laptops and tablets). Cell phones, smart watches, and ear buds cannot be used at school and must be turned off and stored in lockers during the school day.
