Halton Learning Foundation
Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) is a registered charity whose mandate is to support the students and schools of the Halton District School Board.
HLF helps eliminate financial barriers to learning by providing emergency funds for students in need and support for their inclusion in extracurricular opportunities. HLF also disburses grants that help pay for school programs and resources, and offers a number of student bursaries and post-secondary scholarships.
HLF Back to School Campaign
“Emma was coming to class wearing her mother’s clothes and had very little food.”
“Ethan outgrew his clothes and shoes over the summer, but mom couldn’t afford new ones. Ethan already struggled with his confidence and didn’t always fit in with classmates.”
Help HLF send 300 HDSB students Back to School this month with clothing, school supplies and other basic necessities. Last school year, HLF supported 2,900 students in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills. 1 in 10 HDSB students live in poverty.
How HLF Helps
Basic Necessities
Gift cards and subsidies help HDSB students-in-need access nutritious food, clothing, school supplies and other basics they require to fit in with peers, focus on class and explore learning opportunities.
Scholarships
Scholarships and bursaries recognize student achievements and provide financial support so graduates can continue their education beyond high school.
School Grants
School grants enable schools to fund additional resources and programs that help engage students in learning and ensure equity across school communities.
