Principal's Message

Welcome to Sir Ernest MacMillan Public School!

Whether you have been a long-time member of the Mustang family, or are considering joining our community here in beautiful Burlington, I am thrilled you’ve found us. Named after the legendary Canadian conductor and composer, our school strives to live up to that legacy by creating a "symphony" of diverse voices, talents, and ideas.

At Sir Ernest MacMillan, we believe that education is most powerful when it is rooted in connection. My door is always open because I believe the best way to lead is by listening - to our students’ dreams, our teachers’ insights, and our parents’ goals.

We are guided by the Halton District School Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan, focusing on:

  • Learning, Engagement and Achievement

  • Kindness, Connection and Community

  • Indigenous Rights and Education

  • Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion

  • Mental Health and Well-Being

  • Environmental and Global Citizenship

Beyond the curriculum, our daily "pulse" is driven by a simple, powerful mission: being good humans.

What truly sets us apart at Sir Ernest MacMillan is the vibrant energy you feel the moment you walk through our doors. It’s a place where a culture of kindness isn’t just a slogan, but a lived experience; we lead with empathy and integrity to ensure every child feels safe enough to take big risks and dream even bigger. This sense of security fuels our passion for innovative thinking, where we spark curiosity and challenge our students, to become the creative problem-solvers our world needs. Above all, we are bound together by a deep community spirit. We see ourselves as much more than just a school building; we are a bustling neighborhood hub where families and educators work hand-in-hand to ensure every child truly belongs.

In these hallways, your child is a valued individual with unique strengths. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure that every student who walks through our doors feels seen, heard, and inspired.

Thank you for being part of our story. Let’s make this school year a masterpiece!

GO MUSTANGS GO!
