Dear West Oak Families,

Welcome to what promises to be another exciting and inspiring school year at West Oak! We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable summer, and we’re delighted to welcome everyone back for the 2026–2027 academic year.

To our new families—welcome to West Oak! We’re so happy to have you join our community and look forward to getting to know you. Families who are new to the school community are invited to tour the school and meet other newcomers on September 1st from 10:00 AM–11:30 AM.

I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new vice principal, Gillian Wassmansdorf (Ms. Wass). She will be joining us until Ms. Lang returns later in the school year. Please be sure to say hello and introduce yourself to Ms. Wass when you see her.

We believe strong partnerships between home and school play an important role in student success. We encourage you to stay connected through our weekly newsletter, Week at a Glance, which will keep you up to date on important dates, upcoming events, and school news. The newsletter is shared electronically every Friday.

A few important notes as we begin the school year:

  • First Day Procedures: Details will be shared with families shortly. Please watch your inbox for this important information including changes to our morning entry routines.

  • Class Assignments: You will receive an automated email on Friday, September 4th at 4:00 p.m. with your child’s class placement. Please note that class lists are final. Our staff has dedicated considerable time and care to ensure thoughtful and balanced class groupings.

  • Open House: Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 8th! This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s educators, explore the learning environment, and hear about the exciting year ahead.

We are honoured to partner with you in your child’s educational journey and are committed to making this school year a positive, enriching, and memorable one.

With warmest regards,

Maria Solomon-Dias       Gillian Wassmansdorf
