Welcome - Vivek

Meeting started at 6:30 PM.

Treasurer Report – Sarah Reid

TV was purchased for the foyer at a cost of $5200
-
Tricycles for Kindergarten have been purchased, one Taxi Tricylce is on backorder
-
$8000 has been spent on Bus Subsidy with an additional $8500 expected before the end of the year. Amount spent per class varies between $200 and $900.
-
Hero Burger Term 3 is expected to bring in $4500. Total for the year is expected to be $11,600.
Council committed $3000 for digital cameras, but do not have sufficient funds. Cameras are to be funded out of pizza money.
Council has not raised enough funds to cover all expenses.

School has received a Recognition Award for being supportive of supply teachers

2026/27 School Registration:

594 students have registered, down 50 students from current school year

33 out of 72 Grade 1s have registered for French Immersion

53 JK students have registered
-
Two new staff have been hired for next year

Class Building will begin in June

Suspension Data

11 Suspensions for this school year

6 for physical aggression

5 for hurtful language

Numbers do not include in-school suspensions.

The budget started at $88,610. Current balance is $18,724.

Grade 7/8 Tech Team received Bronze at Ontario Skills Competition.

Vice Principal Report
-
West Oak is part of a pilot project for ball strikes to the head.
-
The school has a high frequency of ball strikes to the head for both children and staff.
-
Looking at addressing the black top in different ways, example zone off the basketball nets.
-
Onboarding and Training to try and refine practices and keep everyone safe.
-
Soccer balls are not to be used on black top
-
The bus subsidy makes a big difference in the cost of field trips for families. Consider other ideas to raise money for council such as:

Kindergarten Bike Race for Admin

Basketball Tournament or Volleyball Game
-
Staff has made the decision that student entry will change for next school year. Students will remain outside and come in when the second bell rings. More details to come to families.

Walk and Wheel Wednesdays for all of May, encouraging families to walk and bike to school.

The board sent out new admin procedures and policies. Maria to send link, please review and provide feedback.

New Business/Parent Questions

Graduation
-
Help is required for graduation, typically grade 7 families are asked to support but open to all families. A google form will be sent to ask for volunteers.

A significant parent donation was made. A large portion is being used to cover grade decorations and food.

Teacher Appreciation:
-
Samosas will be dropped off on June 8.
-
Open House:
-
Open House is planned for October 8. Council will again plan a BBQ with proceeds used to provide dinner for staff.

Would also like to offer snacks for purchase (ice cream bars, chocolate bars, chips, etc).
-
Potential to also sell corn.

Vivek will look into M&M Meets to provide BBQ
-
Sarah to look into vendors for corn.

Wolf Pack Jam
-
This fundraiser is making less each year. Need to find a way to make it more interesting to students and build excitement.

Potentially use a different vendor than Professor Jams.

Suggested having a prize for most funds raised, such as:

Allowed to chew gum

Principal for the day

Bethy to send DJ Contacts.

Date for Wolf Pack Jam has not been chosen.
