Halloween Reminders
With Halloween just around the corner, we want to share some important information about how we’ll be recognizing the day at school, along with a few reminders to ensure it’s a fun, safe, and inclusive experience for all students.
Halloween is optional. Participation in Halloween activities is completely voluntary. We understand that not all families celebrate Halloween, and that’s okay! For students who choose not to take part, we will offer equally engaging alternative activities so everyone feels included.
Costume Guidelines:
If your child chooses to wear a costume to school, we kindly ask for your support in ensuring it reflects our values of respect, inclusion, and safety. Here are a few guidelines to help:
-
Full face masks that obscure the identity of the student are not permitted.
-
Costumes should be fun and respectful.
-
Please avoid costumes that imitate or represent cultural, religious, racial, or gender identities.
-
Costumes that are overly frightening or meant to scare others are not appropriate for school.
-
Masks and replica weapons should be left at home.
Keeping Everyone in Mind:
We also recognize that some students may have different personal, cultural, or religious reasons for not participating in Halloween activities. Some may be unfamiliar with these traditions, while others may have had past experiences that make Halloween challenging. As always, we will be mindful of every student's comfort and well-being.
If your child will be bringing in any treats, please remember to avoid items that contain common allergens like nuts, and consider non-food options where possible.
By planning thoughtfully and respectfully, we can make Halloween at GWSS an enjoyable experience for all.
Thank you for your continued support!
