School Council Call for Nominations – Extended to Thursday Sept 17

Hello GWSS Families,

We are extending the self-nomination deadline for our 2026–2027 School Council! We are still looking for parents and guardians to join us as Voting Members, and we are especially looking to fill our Treasurer role.

Voting members are required to attend all 5–7 meetings throughout the year. Roles available to voting members include Chair/Co-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and PIC Representative. Please remember that all parents are always welcome to attend any meeting as general members!

Thank you for your continued engagement and support of Garth Webb Secondary School.

We would like to thank our current School Council for their support over the past year. For the families who are new to Garth Webb, our school council meets 5-7 times per year and any parent/guardian can attend school council at any time - you do not have to be a voting member on school council to attend and share ideas.

Every year, we do reach out to the community to see if others would like roles on the council. To be on council as a voting member, it is required for you to attend all meetings and if you are the PIC representative you are required to organize parent involvement events for our school. Voting Members have access to the following positions: Chair/Co-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and PIC Representative at the school level. 

If you are interested in being a voting member of council, please complete this google form no later than Thursday, September 10 @3 pm. 

If more than the maximum number of parents/guardians self nominate, a school wide election will occur. If an election is needed, all parents/guardians will be informed of the election on Friday, September 11.

All GWSS Parents/Guardians will have the opportunity to vote in person at the school between Monday, September 14 to Friday, September 18.

Thank You School Council

Thank you to the members of our School Council for all of their work and efforts on behalf of our students and school this past year. The School Council was able to fund many initiatives for the students and staff of GWSS. Thank you to all families who were able to contribute!

Thank you to Craig Lemon (Chair), Anshu Mahajan (Treasurer), Richa Jaiswal (PIC Rep), as well as student representatives Jack Ross, Vaishnavi Sharma and Aarna Vyawahare. Thank you to all of the GWSS parents and guardians who volunteered their time to attend School Council meetings and help out this school year.

We look forward to the final meeting of the 2025-2026 school council on Monday, September 21, 2026 when we will also welcome any new members for the 2026-2027 School Council.
