Math club:

Join us in math club today from 3-4 PM in room 224. We'll be doing proof writing!

TEDx conference:

Hey OT! Have you been wanting to hear your fellow students share their ideas on stage? Do you want to enjoy a FREE event with prizes and food? Great news, because OT's TEDx conference is happening April 9th during Periods 4-5! Pick up your form in your first period class OR Room 204 and hand it in by this Friday for a chance to win a $50 gift card. The hard deadline is April 1st. Don’t miss out: get your form in and support OT’s TEDx initiative! Note: Unfortunately grade 9s will not be able to attend as they have an assembly.

Student volunteers needed:

We are looking for student volunteers to help out with our Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday March 26th from 4:15 to 7:30pm. If you are interested in helping out, please see Mrs. Rudge in the main office.

Community hours:

Submit your 40 community hours today! - all grades.  Submit your hours through the Student Services Brightspace account.  

Grade 12s - no hours = no graduation.  Grade 12 students - submit your 40 hours through the OT Grad Class Brightspace today.

Pi Day:

Hey OT!  Ever wanted to pie a teacher in the face?  Now’s your chance!  Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant pi (3.14...) and it falls on Saturday, March 14, this year. 

To celebrate Pi Day, a donation of $1 gets you a ticket to potentially pie a teacher.  Your donation will go towards Halton Women’s Place in support of Women’s History Month.  So, head to the atrium at lunch to donate $1 in cash on Wednesday and Thursday to have a chance to pie a teacher on Friday at the start of lunch.  Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!

Varsity Girls Slo-Pitch Team:

All students in Grades 9 through 12 interested in trying out for the Varsity Girls Slo-Pitch Team are asked to attend a brief meeting TODAY at the start of lunch in room 214. See you then!

Rugby:

Attention all rugby players.  Uniform sizing is taking place today at lunch in room 104.  Get it done today!!!

This past weekend was big for OT rugby players.  Matilda B. and Gioia G. both won silver medals and Gemma G. won a bronze at the provincial 7’s tournament in BC.  Alumni Brenden B. helped lead the Canada men’s 7s team to the tri-nations cup at the HSBC 7s tournament.  Congratulations to all.

BASEF:

There is a BASEF meeting today at 11:00 in room 120. See you there.

MSA:

Hey OT! Ramadan is a time of celebration and community. Do you know what also symbolises this time of joy? Decorated lanterns!  The MSA invites you all to swing by the library Tomorrow and Wednesday at lunch and craft your own lantern to decorate the library with! We can’t wait to share our festivities with you!

Club photos:

Just a reminder that all club photos for the yearbook must be submitted by the end of March.   If you are a club leader, please schedule and submit your photo ASAP if you would like to see your club featured in the yearbook!

AP exams:

Hey - are you writing an AP exam this  year?  Did you BUILD YOUR AP EXAM SCHEDULE and complete all the tasks sent to your collegeboard email from Mrs. O’Hara?  If not, you missed the deadline and should see Mrs. O’Hara today in the Guidance office.

Commencement:

Are you graduating in June?  Are you sure? 🙂  Did you complete the Commencement google form introduced at the Feb assembly?  All graduating students need to complete the form this week.  Locate this form in the OT Grad Brightspace feed.  Complete it today!

Once you’ve completed the Commencement Google Form, why not head over to the Halton Learning Foundation’s Awards Hub? The Halton Learning Foundation has shared that only a small handful of graduating OT students have so far applied to their numerous scholarships and awards available to graduating students this year, with some deadlines coming up soon! Whether to help cover costs of tuition, transportation, accommodations, or learning materials, we encourage all graduating OT students to consider applying for the many scholarships and financial awards available through the Halton Learning Foundation and other organizations in the community. Varsity Girls Slo-Pitch Team:

Rock, Paper, Scissors challenge:

Hey OT! Thanks to everyone who participated in our Rock, Paper, Scissors challenge on Friday. Congratulations to the winner Charlie Ochu with 30 silly bandz and runner up Anya S with 28 silly bandz!  You will receive your prizes today!  We loved seeing everyone’s spirit!  Make sure to participate in more fun events like this, OT!

OT Track & Field Athletes:

Announcement for all OT Track & Field Athletes! There will be a meeting on Wednesday March 11 at lunch in the Health Room for all interested athletes. See you there!

BSU:

Jr. Boys Hockey:

Any grade 9 and 10 boys interested in coming out for Jr. Boys Hockey, there will be an important meeting on Friday, March 13th in room 193 at the start of lunch. All interested players MUST attend.

Operation Senior Prank:

A huge congratulations to the incredible cast and crew of Operation Senior Prank! Your talent, energy, and unwavering commitment to bringing this production to life were truly outstanding. From the opening scene to the curtain call,  it was clear how much dedication and heart went into every moment on stage.

Special thanks to the students and staff who attended and continue to champion the beauty and importance of theatre in our school community. Your support helps keep the theatre alive!

And finally, congratulations to the talented playwrights, Angelika W and Holly M, for bringing to life such a clever plot and creating engaging, dynamic characters. Operation Senior Prank was a joy to watch and a celebration of creativity and collaboration.

Bravo to everyone involved!

Jazz Trio and our Big Band Jazz:

A massive congratulations needs to go out to the members of our Jazz Trio and our Big Band Jazz Ensemble for their performances on Wednesday at Humber College. These musicians have been working since September to achieve the level they have. They received glowing feedback from the judges, and both ensembles received an unheard-of Gold ranking as well as an invitation to compete at Musicfest Nationals in May!

Eco Council:

A reminder that there is an Eco Council meeting at lunch in room 223 to discuss plans for Earth Day and the outdoor classroom.  New members welcome.

Come see ‘Operation Senior Prank’, a play written by students Angelika W. and Holly M. Join us in the theatre tonight at 6:30pm!

MEDLIFE club:

Hey OT! Do you have any face masks, hygiene products, or toothpaste at home? The MEDLIFE club is hosting a donation drive to support the upcoming Service Learning Trip to Peru! From Monday to Friday this week, we’ll be collecting donations that students will bring directly to low-income communities. We’re looking for new and unopened items like medical gloves, face masks, dental care items, and other hygiene supplies. Donations can be dropped off in the collection box in the main office. Every donation—big or small—can make a difference, so we hope you’ll join us in supporting this cause! Plus, join us in the atrium at lunch today to make bracelets and learn how MEDLIFE empowers students to make a global impact!

SHSM:

Attention SHSM students.  There is a mandatory SHSM summer coop meeting being held TODAY at the beginning of lunch in the library seminar room.  If you are a SHSM student considering summer coop, you must attend the session to hear from the lead teacher all important info around the opportunity.

Our 3-on-3 basketball tournament is happening today at lunch in gym AB. Make sure you have gym shoes and your student card with your intramural sticker on it.
