Irma Coulson Public School (Milton SE #7 ps) Boundary Review

​A Boundary Review Process was initiated for the Milton SE #7 ps in southeast Milton. The new school was planned to open in the 2013/2014 school year. The Boundary Review Process included the review of possible boundary options for the new school as well as the program offerings, i.e. French Immersion.

Boundaries Approved

The Director's report (Report 13024) provides details of the recommended boundary changes (Scenario 5a) and the recommended implementation. This report was presented to the Board of Trustees at the February 20, 2013 Board meeting. The report and recommendations were considered and approved by Trustees at the March 6, 2013 Board meeting.

Public Information Meeting

Parents and community members were invited to attend a public information meeting regarding elementary school boundaries in southeast Milton, as a result of the opening of the new Milton #7 ps for September 2013. Impacted elementary schools were Bruce Trail PS, E.W. Foster PS, Hawthorne Village PS, Sam Sherratt PS, Tiger Jeet Singh PS, and W.I. Dick PS. The purpose of this meeting was to provide information about the boundary review process, review boundary scenarios and give members of the public an opportunity to provide feedback. The meeting will be held January 17th, 2013 7 p.m. at Bruce Trail Public School located at 1199 Costigan Road, Milton, Ontario.

An online feedback survey was also used to gather community input.

Timelines

The review began in November 2012. The intent is that a final recommendation be brought to the Board of Trustees for a decision in March 2013.
