2027 Terry Fox Run

Tuesday, September 29

In 1980, Terry had a dream of a world without cancer. Forty-five years later, Terry's Marathon of Hope lives on. If we work together, we can make such a difference in the lives of so many.

Please help fund critical cancer research in Canada by supporting our participation in the 2026 Terry Fox School Run. Crossing the finish line means hope for everyone with cancer. Together, we can Finish It.

IRHS Terry Fox Walk/Run will take place on Tuesday September 29th
(rain date: Thursday October 1st)

HDSB Secondary School Open House

On Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, the Halton District School Board will host a board-wide, interactive Secondary School Open House at Craig Kielburger Secondary School in Milton (1151 Ferguson Dr, Milton).

This event is designed to help students in Grade 6–10 and their families explore the full range of opportunities available across HDSB secondary schools, including programs and pathways, academics, athletics, clubs, community and support and student life.

This year’s open house will also feature representatives from the new Oakville secondary school, opening September 2027, which will be home to the HDSB’s first regional sports program, the Academy for Athletic Performance and Excellence.

This is not just an information session. It’s a celebration of what makes the HDSB vibrant and unique. With hands-on activities, student-led booths and real-time engagement, this event will be fun, inspiring and a powerful first connection for future secondary students.

“This Open House is all about giving students and families a firsthand look at the vibrant possibilities waiting for them in HDSB secondary schools,” says Curtis Ennis, Chief Executive Officer of the Halton District School Board. “Whether exploring unique pathways, discovering new passions or connecting directly with our dedicated staff and student leaders, this interactive day is designed to inspire confidence as students take their next big steps.”

To help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all families, those interested in attending are asked to complete the registration form, including a preferred attendance time slot. Parking is free but limited, and time slots will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Parents/guardians with questions about the HDSB Secondary School Open House or secondary school in the HDSB can learn more by visiting the Secondary School Open House webpage on the HDSB website.

Extended Absence Protocol

Please complete this 2-step process if your student will be away for 4 or more consecutive days:

1. Parents complete the Extended Absence Form.  No attendance will be recorded until submitted.

2.   Student brings Course of Study page to each of their teachers BEFORE the absence, then submits it to the Main Office once completed.  (Blank form is also available in the Main Office)
