Halton District School Board students advance to Skills Ontario Competition
The Halton District School Board (HDSB) hosted the 33rd annual Halton Skills Competition earlier this year. More than 1,100 elementary and 250 secondary students showcased their skills across various disciplines, demonstrating their creativity, technical proficiency and problem-solving skills.
Of those students, 47 have qualified for the Skills Ontario Competition which will be held on May 5 and 6 at the Toronto Congress Centre, with the Closing Ceremony on May 7. HDSB students will compete against students from across the province.
The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for students to demonstrate that they are the best of the best in their field. Winners are awarded with Gold, Silver or Bronze medals, and some will receive monetary awards. This provincial competition is a qualifier for the Skills Canada National Competition held later in May.
The HDSB offers a number of opportunities to learn about and gain experience in the skilled trades, providing students with confidence, abilities and the opportunity to be successful in any situation.
