Sept. 8, 2026 - The Halton District School Board (HDSB) welcomes approximately 64,000 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students today, Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026 for the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Craig Kielburger Secondary School in Milton hosted its second annual IGNITE! event this week, a two-day transition program designed to help incoming Grade 9 students feel comfortable and confident before the start of the school year.

The Halton District School Board will hold an official groundbreaking ceremony for a new Oakville elementary school (currently referred to as Oakville #5 PS) on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026 at 1 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the school site, located at 3490 Preserve Drive in Milton.

Halton District School Board students observed the salmon life cycle firsthand through the Classroom Hatchery component of the Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program, also known as Bring Back the Salmon.

As the Halton District School Board prepares to open a new school at 4020 Sixth Line, input from students, parents/guardians and local community members will help build the foundation for Oakville’s newest secondary school.

After graduating from Aldershot School this summer, Isabella (Bella) Oliver is heading to Queen's University with two prestigious entrance scholarships recognizing her outstanding academic achievement, leadership and community involvement.

The Halton District School Board is proud to announce that two Grade 12 students from White Oaks Secondary School in Oakville – Kaiya Ajmera and Zoe Vasilijevic – achieved rare perfect scores in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

Halton District School Board (HDSB) secondary schools made an incredible impact through Relay For Life this year, raising more than $640,000 collectively in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Thousands of students and staff participated in the annual event, demonstrating the power of community while honouring those whose lives have been affected by cancer.
