Students in the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program at Abbey Park HS recently participated in a hands-on learning session focused on disability, accessibility and assistive technology.

As part of Mental Health Week, students at Abbey Park High School created a thought-provoking art installation that took centre stage in the school’s main foyer. Entirely student-led, the project brought together members of the Safety and Well-Being team and the Art Club, who collaborated from start to finish – conceptualizing, planning and building the installation themselves.

The HDSB’s Halton Student Film Festival, known as The Eddies, celebrated its 21st anniversary on May 12, 2025 at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton. With more than 300 attendees, the event was an exciting showcase of student talent, creativity and collaboration.

Students from the Halton District School Board’s (HDSB) I-STEM program have earned top national honours in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition, which challenges students across Canada to develop innovative solutions to real-world issues using Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Tanya Woods, Instructional Program Leader for School Programs at the Halton District School Board (HDSB), has been named a recipient of the PHE Canada Impact Award, a national honour recognizing individuals whose leadership has profoundly shaped Health and Physical Education (HPE) across schools, systems and communities.

​As a talented musician and aspiring computer engineer, Abbey Park HS student Jayden is able to combine his interests during his co-op with the Burlington Symphony Orchestra. 

​The Halton District School Board is celebrating the remarkable achievements of several students who placed among the top three in the world at the prestigious DECA International Career Development Conference, held on April 26-29, 2025.

Students from the Halton District School Board (HDSB) will participate in the 38th annual Special Athletics Track Meet on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Garth Webb Secondary School (2820 Westoak Trails Blvd, Oakville).
