Halton District School Board welcomes Student Trustees Melody Liu and Jay Xu for 2026-2027 school year
Feb. 26, 2026 - The Halton District School Board is pleased to announce secondary school students Melody Liu and Jay Xu as the Board’s Student Trustees for the next school year (2026-2027). These students were the successful candidates elected to the role by their peers through an online election that took place on Thursday, Feb. 19. This year’s election included 22 candidates and a total of approximately 3,968 students casting votes.
Liu is a Grade 10 student at Oakville Trafalgar High School and Xu is a Grade 11 student at White Oaks Secondary School. Xu is currently serving as a Student Trustee, returning for a second term in the 2026-2027 school year.
The new term of office officially begins on Aug. 1, 2026. The HDSB welcomes Melody Liu and Jay Xu to their roles as Student Trustees for the 2026-2027 school year. Melody Liu and Jay Xu shared the following thoughts about their upcoming terms as Student Trustee.
