HDSB Director of Education, Curtis Ennis, Recognized for Meaningful Community Leadership

Kindness. Connection. Community. These are the guiding principles that shape Curtis Ennis’ leadership as Director of Education for the Halton District School Board. They are also what earned him the 2026 Community Builders Award from BurlingtonToday, recognizing his lasting impact as a compassionate and community-driven leader.
“I am truly honoured to receive this award,” said Ennis. “It reflects the collective efforts of an incredible community committed to making a difference in the lives of students and families.”
Since joining HDSB in 2021, Ennis has brought more than 28 years of experience in education to his role. One of his earliest priorities, he says, was strengthening community engagement and fostering meaningful relationships both within schools and across the broader community. Guided by the priorities set by the Board of Trustees through the 2024-2028 Multi-Year Strategic Plan, Ennis draws on his years of experience and insight in education to support the HDSB’s continued focus on student success and creating the conditions for all students to thrive – in the classroom today and in their future studies, careers and life.
“All of us play a role in making the cities and regions we live in better places. Education is a key part of that,” Ennis shared. “I am proud to lead an exceptional group of students, staff and educators, who I learn from every day.”
