Official groundbreaking ceremony for new HDSB elementary school in Milton to take place Friday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m.

Sept. 15, 2026 - The Halton District School Board will hold an official groundbreaking ceremony for a new Milton elementary school (currently referred to as Milton #13 Public School) on Friday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the school site, located at 1345 Trudeau Drive in Milton (see linked map).
The new school is expected to open in Fall 2028 and will support current and projected student enrolment growth in the Milton community. The three-storey elementary school will offer 926 students a learning environment featuring an open-concept library with a rooftop terrace overlooking the neighbourhood, natural light and 88 licensed childcare spaces.
The project’s budget of approximately $43 million is supported by capital funding provided by the Government of Ontario. The Halton District School Board awarded the architectural contract to Hossack Architecture and Struct-Con Construction Ltd. is leading the construction phase. The school has been designed to support learning and reflects the HDSB’s commitment to providing vibrant, supportive spaces where students are inspired to learn and thrive.
In attendance at the ceremony will be Halton District School Board trustees, senior administrative staff, local government officials, area residents and a number of students who will attend the new school once it opens.
