Families at John T. Tuck Public School have launched the Connected Community Collective, a parent-led initiative that brings schools and families together to help children find balance with screens and social media.

Nov. 19, 2025 - At the Halton District School Board meeting last night (Tuesday, Nov. 18), Trustees elected the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board for the upcoming year. This is an annual process with the 11 HDSB Trustees choosing from amongst their colleagues for these roles.

Amy Collard was acclaimed as Chair and Joanna Oliver was also acclaimed as Vice-Chair for the 2025-2026 school year.

Nov. 18, 2025 - The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is now accepting applications to the Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs for the 2026-2027 school year. HDSB students and external students can apply on the AP and IB webpages of the HDSB website (hdsb.ca) by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 2, 2025.

As high school program applications open, many families are exploring options that challenge and inspire their child academically. Among the most recognized pathways are the Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IBDP) programs, both of which offer enriched learning opportunities, global recognition and strong preparation for post-secondary success.

Evan Budz, a Grade 10 student from Dr. Frank J. Hayden SS is earning top national and international honours for his innovative science project. Evan won first prize at both the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Fredericton, New Brunswick and the European Union Contest for Young Scientists in Riga, Latvia. His project has garnered significant media attention, with features on CP24 and CBC.

On November 6, students from Aldershot School participated in the No Stone Left Alone ceremony at Woodland Cemetery. This event brings students and community leaders together to honour Canada's fallen soldiers. By placing poppies at each grave, students create a tangible connection to our nation's veterans and show their respect for those who served and continue to serve our communities.

The Halton District School Board recently hosted The Entrepreneur Within Conference, a dynamic event that brought together more than 200 high school students to network and learn from real-world business leaders. Back by popular demand, the conference provided a unique chance for students to gain valuable experience and insight into entrepreneurship.

Milton District High School’s Brody Clark has become one of Canada’s most exciting young distance runners. The Grade 12 student recently made history at the McQuaid Invitational, one of the largest and most competitive high school cross-country meets in North America. Brody not only won the varsity boys’ race but set a course record, running three miles in 14:29, which is the fastest time recorded on the course since it was redesigned in 2021.

Oct. 30, 2025 - The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is now accepting applications to the I-STEM (Innovation, Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) program for students starting Grade 9 in the 2026-2027 school year.

Our Toronto Blue Jays are heading to the World Series, and we’re celebrating in true HDSB style! Monday, Oct. 27 is Blue Jays Day — a time to come together, celebrate community and share in the fun of cheering for Canada’s team. Staff and students are encouraged to wear Blue Jays colours or team gear to show their support. Let’s channel our inner Jays — bring that Vladdy-level energy, some Springer spark and a touch of October magic to kick off the week in style.
