Falgarwood PS/Joshua Creek PS Community Integration Boundary Review

Boundary Review Background

A boundary review of the southwest corner of Dundas Street East and Prince Michael Drive is currently taking place.

At the June 2, 2026 Board meeting, HDSB Trustees approved a motion to initiate a boundary review process to integrate the southwest corner of Dundas Street East and Prince Michael Drive area into the Joshua Creek PS boundary. The study area was one of the last new residential areas to be constructed and completed in this area. At the time of the completion of this development, Joshua Creek PS was experiencing accommodation pressures and required portables for a number of years and it was recommended at the time to direct new students from the study area to Falgarwood PS.

Long-term enrolment projections and staffing projections demonstrate decreasing enrolment projections at Joshua Creek PS, and a reduction in portable requirements. As such, Planning Services is recommending the repatriation of the students within the home school boundaries.

Implementation of any boundary changes may take effect as early as September 2027.

The motion, as presented in Board Report 26040 is as follows:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Trustees direct staff to initiate a boundary review for Elementary Review Areas (ERA) 205 (Northeast Oakville (East of Trafalgar Road/Morrison Creek) to integrate a pocket of development from the Falgarwood PS community into the Joshua Creek PS community.

The boundary review may impact the following elementary schools:

  • Falgarwood PS
  • Joshua Creek PS

Below is the Study Area map illustrating the area under review:

For more information on the process and the roles and responsibilities of the committees, please review the School Boundary Review Administrative Procedure.

It is anticipated that the review will follow the Pathway 2 process as per the above Administrative Procedure, which won’t require the establishment of a Boundary Review Committee composed of Parent Members. It’s anticipated that the changes will be phased in over time, and existing students may be given the option to go to Joshua Creek if requested, pending transportation reviews.
