Suggest a name for the new HDSB secondary school opening in Oakville in Fall 2027
Aug. 17, 2026 - A new secondary school is coming to Oakville in September 2027, and community creativity is welcomed to help name it! As the Halton District School Board prepares to open a new school at 4020 Sixth Line, input from students, parents/guardians and local community members will help build the foundation for Oakville’s newest secondary school.
Students, families and community members are encouraged to submit suggestions for the name of the new school by Sept. 13, 2026.
How to submit a name suggestion:
- Online: Complete the online submission form
- By mail: Communications & Engagement Dept., Halton District School Board, PO Box 5005 STN LCD 1, Burlington, ON L7R 3Z2
Selection Process & Criteria
To help spark creativity and ensure submissions hit all the right marks, guiding principles for proposed school names can be viewed on the School Naming webpage on the HDSB website (hdsb.ca).
Every idea will be reviewed by a committee representing students, parents/guardians and staff to build a top shortlist. The Board of Trustees will then select a name to submit to the Ministry of Education for final approval. Once approved, the official name will be shared community-wide.
HDSB 2024-2028 Multi-Year Strategic Plan
The 2024-2028 Multi-Year Strategic Plan sets direction and prioritizes the collective actions of all students, staff, families and community members. This plan ensures our efforts as an organization are aligned and coordinated to support more than 64,000 students, 11,000 staff and the broader HDSB community. The six commitments identified in this four-year plan intersect and overlap to ensure that we take a cohesive approach to fulfilling its objectives.
