The 31st annual Halton Skills Competition (elementary panel) has returned and will be held in-person on
Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the New Street Education Centre (3250 New St., Burlington) from 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Approximately 700 Grade 4-8 elementary students will compete in a wide range of skills including robotics, animation, construction, mechanical engineering and TV/video production.
“We are very excited for the return of the Halton Skills Competition,” says Michelle Stone, Instructional Program Leader (Science and Technology, Safety, STEM). It will be a fantastic day with students solving authentic problems and engaging in collaboration-based critical thinking. “This event qualifies teams to advance in each contest to the provincial Skills Ontario Competition held on May 1 in Toronto.”
“Participation in activities like the Halton Skills Competition help students develop innovative strategies and connect learning to the real world by aligning with the ‘Equity and Inclusion’ and ‘Learning and Achievement’ areas of focus in the
Halton District School Boards 2022-2024 Multi-Year Plan, which is designed to elevate student achievement.”
