​​​​​There are currently no Program Accommodation Studies in the Halton District School Board.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Board of Trustees is responsible for deciding the most appropriate pupil accommodation arrangements for the delivery of its elementary and secondary programs. This page presents information regarding Program and Accommodation Reviews (PARs) as well as other program accommodation studies.

Program and Accommodation Reviews 

At the February 17, 2016, Board Meeting, Halton District School Board Trustees approved a new Program and Accommodation Review Policy. This policy supports a ​transparent process for decision-making related to program and accommodation reviews. The Board is committed to the following principles:

  • Program and accommodation decisions that might require school closures, consolidation, construction, boundary changes or program relocation will endeavor to take into account the needs of all students in all schools in the affected community and the Board as a whole.
  • Communities affected by program and accommodation reviews will have an understanding of the process and the level of consultation that will take place.
  • Processes for decision-making including those related to program, accommodation, school boundary reviews, school closures/consolidations will be timely, inclusive, transparent and open.
  • In the students', community's or system's best interests, school closures/consolidations, construction, boundary changes, or program relocation may occur as a result of financial constraints, changes in curriculum, program demands, student enrolment, or other unforeseen factors. ​

The policy aligns with the revised Pupil Accommodation Review Guideline released by the Ministry of Education on March 26, 2015 as a part of the School Board Efficiencies and Modernization strategy, which provides a more efficient tool to address Board needs to close and consolidate facilities with meaningful input from the community. The Ministry also provides a Guide to inform parents and guardians regarding the process.

This policy is complimented by the Community Planning and Partnerships Guideline released by the Ministry of Education and Board-approved, Community Planning and Partnership Policy, which provides another strategy for the Board to manage excess capacity at schools.

Once the Board of Trustees decides to proceed with a Program and Accommodation Review, relevant information will be posted below.
