Centennial Public School (233 Delrex Blvd., Georgetown) will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with two days of music and activities.
On Friday, May 26, 2017 from 6-8 p.m., the Centennial Band and Choir, and Centennial Alumni Band will perform. As well, there will be rooms set up depicting the school's various decades of operation. They will include photos and memorabilia. Refreshments will be available in the library.
On Saturday, May 27, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., there will be a ribbon cutting, speeches by local dignitaries, food trucks on site and the school will be open to welcome alumni, students and friends.
Staff and students, past and current, will have the opportunity to take part in the 'Centennial Leaf Fundraiser' by purchasing a leaf to commemorate their time at Centennial Public School. Leaves will be mounted to a new artistic tree to be placed in the front entranceway at Centennial. Funds will be used to support the purchase of a new electronic sign for the front of the school.
