Do you want to learn more about supporting your child’s learning or how to become more involved in the ongoing education of your child?
Parents and community members are encouraged to mark their calendars for the Halton District School Board’s 10th annual Parent Involvement Conference hosted by the Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 8:15 a.m. – 2:40 p.m., at Craig Kielburger Secondary School, located at 1151 Ferguson Drive in Milton. This year’s theme is titled, 21st Century Student Success: Creating a Culture of Equity, Inclusion & Well-Being.
This years’ keynote address will be delivered by broadcaster/author/activist and Candy Palmater and called, The Road Less Travelled. Through words of guidance, humour and personal stories, Candy will share her passionate perspective on inclusivity in education. She travels the globe speaking to audiences about the power of love, kindness and self-acceptance.
The day will also offer parents the opportunity to select three workshops. Workshop speakers will address topics around inclusion, achievement and well-being for children and teens. The goal is to provide parents with additional ideas and strategies they may utilize to help their children develop and promote positive well-being.
There will also be a variety of displays set up throughout the day with community and Board resources for parents and families.
Admission to the conference is free and registration including workshop session information will be available in August via the Halton District School Board website, www.hdsb.ca.
