Boundaries approved, effective September 2013
Boundaries for the new SRA 101 Burlington NE High School were approved by trustees at the June 6, 2012 Board Meeting. The Director's report (Report 12070) provides further details on the recommended boundary.
The recommendations are as follows:
- Be it resolved that the Halton District School Board adjust the boundaries for the high schools in Burlington as outlined in Scenario 2 and detailed in this report (Report 12070) effective September 2013.
- Be it resolved that the new Burlington NE high school, located in SRA #101 (Alton), provide Grade 9 and 10 English programming in the year 2013-14, add Grade 11 in 2014-15 and add Grade 12 in 2015-16.
- Be it resolved that the new Burlington NE high school, located in SRA #101 (Alton), provide Grade 9 and 10 French Immersion programming in the year 2013-14, add Grade 11 in 2014-15 and add Grade 12 in 2015-16.
- Be it resolved that Grade 11 and 12 English program students within the SRA #101 (Alton) boundaries, attending Nelson, Robert Bateman, Lester B. Pearson and/or M.M. Robinson High Schools in 2013-14, continue to attend these high schools until graduation and that transportation be provided subject to the 'Transportation' policy of the Board.
- Be it resolved that Grade 11 and 12 French Immersion program students within the SRA #101 (Alton) boundaries, attending Nelson and M.M. Robinson High Schools in 2013-14, continue to attend these high schools until graduation and that transportation be provided subject to the 'French As A Second Language' policy of the Board.
- Be it resolved that due to the 'grandfathering' provision in the Alton Elementary Boundary Review recommendation #4 (see below), the new boundary for French Immersion students residing in north Headon Forest (directing them to M.M. Robinson HS) will begin as of September 2016. Transportation will be provided subject to the 'French As A Second Language' policy of the Board.
- “Be it resolved that current Grades 5 - 7 students, who reside in the North Headon Forest area of Burlington and attend Charles R. Beaudoin P.S. for French Immersion, be allowed to continue to attend Charles R. Beaudoin P.S. until graduation and that transportation be provided subject to the “French As A Second Language" policy of the Board."
- Be it resolved that Grade 8 to 9 optional attendance requests for students residing in the boundary of the new Burlington NE high school and wishing to attend Nelson, M.M. Robinson, Robert Bateman and Lester B. Pearson High Schools, be granted if a sibling will be attending the requested high school at the same time. Transportation will not be provided, as per the Halton District School Board 'Optional Attendance' Administrative Procedure.
- Be it resolved that should the Alton Elementary Boundary Review recommendation #7 (see below) be realized, that the boundary for the new Burlington NE high school be revised to include both the English and French Immersion students residing in the North Headon Forest area of Burlington.
- “Be it resolved that should sufficient portables be secured and placed at Charles R. Beaudoin P.S., no later than September 4, 2012, the French Immersion boundary for Charles R. Beaudoin P.S. will remain as prior to the Alton Elementary boundary review."

Public Information Meeting
The Halton District School Board invited the public to attend an information meeting regarding boundaries for Secondary Review Area (SRA) 101, the new Burlington high school currently under construction and scheduled to open in September 2013. The school is located at Tim Dobbie Drive and Dundas Street in the Alton community in northeast Burlington.
The meeting took place on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at J.W. Boich Public School.
The information meeting provided an opportunity to share information about the boundary review process for SRA 101, review the preferred scenario for the boundaries, and give members of the public an opportunity to provide feedback on the scenario. There are a number of schools that could be potentially impacted by this boundary review including MM Robinson HS, Robert Bateman HS, Nelson HS and Lester B. Pearson HS.
The preferred scenario shared at the meeting was Scenario 2.
Open House
An open house was held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Lester B. Pearson High School (1433 Headon Road, Burlington).
At the Open House, parents and community members viewed the school's architectural plans, spoke with trustees and staff members, and learned about the process for determining the programs and boundaries for the new school.
